Drug and Alcohol

“The misuse of drugs and alcohol: a major concern!”

This site discusses Addiction, Treatment and Rehab Options, and the Methods used to Test for Drugs.

Drug and Alcohol Abuse and the associated rehab and treatment for addiction, is both an ongoing and huge social concern in the U.S. and indeed world-wide today.

It is important to realise that the problem occurs across all ages, in all social groups and in both sexes. Drug Abuse affects most communities, and a huge number of families everyday in some way or another. The effects of alcohol and drug abuse are severe. Many families have lost their loved ones, many marriages have been broken up, and many jobs have been lost. As a result, several concerned government and not for profit organizations are trying to find ways to resolve this problem.

Some states have set up special courts such as drug court and DWI court, and these have allowed a number of offenders the opportunity to work through a recovery program, rather than jail time.

Some of these programs are at risk of disappearing as governments search for ways to cut their budgets during the current economic times.

Drug Abuse is a term widely used for the misuse of many kinds of drugs such as Alcohol, Cocaine, Heroin, Amphetamine’s, Cannabis, LSD, GHB, and many others.

One of the major causes of alcohol and drug abuse is peer pressure, and this is not only limited to teenagers. Many adults also take to drugs and alcoholic drinks because of the pressure from their friends.

Another cause is curiosity. Many alcohol and drug addicts try out drugs, and before they know, they have become addicted.

It is our sincere hope to provide useful options to those in need, and to those wanting to prevent the need. We will present programs available for purchase, as well as books etc. both for your information and assistance.

Youth and Drugs

Studies have shown that young people who haven’t yet experimented with alcohol or drugs, are more likely to do so during times of stress. Change is especially stressful, and young lives are constantly changing. However, alcohol and drug use, doesn’t have to be a part of young lives.

As parents, the things that you say and do, have the greatest influence on the things your child does, especially when it comes to using alcohol or drugs. Research shows that kids who learn about the risks of drugs and alcohol, from talking with their parents, are much less likely to abuse these substances. Talking to your kids about drugs and alcohol, can help them to make better choices and to live safer and healthier lives.

Beginning the conversation is never easy, but it’s not as difficult as you may think. The support and resources you need, are available.

Parents need to talk with their children about these problems, and perhaps to implement plans to reduce the risk of drug abuse within the family.

You can download a Free “Drug Free Home Contract” by clicking on this banner. You need to discuss the contract with your family members and then to make sure that you live up to the expectations in the contract.
